Kawpesawkawstake

A ceremonial request was made for a name for the place where we hold ceremonial space for the people.

After more than a year, Uncle Ray Lavallee blessed the space that we hold for people with the name "Kawpesawkawstake". He said it was a place where one comes to listen to the old ones and the elders that have passed on.

When asked to translate and give us a sense of what the name meant, he presented many different interpretrations in his attempt to communicate the feeling and deep sense of the Cree word. Here they are:

 

This little lake is a half hour hike up a rough trail behind the house. We saw a moose at the base of the trail in early October.
